Exploring risk taking from other perspectives

Identify the key messages for each campaign and what behaviours and factors are being targeted.</td>

<p>As a group formulate the possible messages your team will use for your community-based initiative to promote safe road use to young people.</p>

<p>As a class brainstorm a range of everyday road use scenarios that occur for young people in their local community. </p>
<p>Select 3-5 scenarios to explore in more detail (depending on the time available). </p>
<p>Using <a href="/sites/default/files/2021-07/play-it-safe-activity-6-student-worksheet-6.1-decision-tree.pdf" target="_blank">student worksheet 6.1 Decision tree</a> ask teams to briefly plan out on a decision tree and then role play each of the different decisions that a person could make in each scenario and their potential consequences. After each decision rewind the scene and make a different decision and play out the consequences.</p>

<td>Revisit the class <strong>Need to Know list</strong> and ask students to indicate using either a thumb check or fist to five whether they think their team have answered the question and how well they understand it. If some teams respond in the negative ask those teams who respond positively to explain what they know about the question.</td>

<p>Ask teams to decide whether the question/s have been sufficiently answered and understood to be taken off the list or whether more investigation is required.</p>
<p>For those questions that remain on the list, allocate each team with one or two questions that they must investigate and develop answers to and present to the other teams. Allow time for other teams to ask any clarifying questions in order to ensure they fully understand the answer/concept before moving on.</p>
<p><strong>Homework activity</strong></p>
<p>Use a thumb check to identify whether team’s feel they fully understand the answer to the question - if so, remove from the Need to Know list, if not, task each group with undertaking further investigation over the coming week to inform their project work.</p>
