Exploring other perspectives to inform our local community strategies

<td>Ask students to brainstorm a list of different perspectives that they could view these scenarios from, e.g. parent, police officer, emergency doctor, passenger, other driver, bystander, friend, family member, younger sibling, teacher, coach.</td>

<p>Allocate one perspective to each student and ask them to use the following script to explore that person’s perspective of each scenario.</p>
<ul>
<li>I am thinking about this scenario from the point of view of ….</li>
<li>I think I would feel … about this scenario and would want to see the person/people in the scenario make this decision …. or behave in this way because ….</li>

<p>Use a <a href="http://www.visiblethinkingpz.org/VisibleThinking_html_files/03_ThinkingRoutines/03e_FairnessRoutines/CircleViewpoints/CircleViewpoints_Routine.html" target="_blank">Circle of viewpoints activit</a>y to encourage students to consider different and diverse perspectives and to understand how others may think and feel differently about each scenario and the decisions being made.</p>

<td>Ask teams to consider the various perspectives presented about each scenario and ask them to refine the key messages they developed in the previous activity to encourage safe road use.</td>

<p>Ask teams to explore how these positive key messages and slogans could be promoted within a local campaign as part of their strategy that they will present at the end of the project.</p>
<p>Provide time for teams to finalise their strategy proposal and presentation for the culminating challenge. If additional lessons are available, provide more class time for teams to work on their strategies and presentation for the culminating challenge.</p>
