Approach: Designing for specificity
Some texts are designed to give you instant and precise information. These are texts where getting the message quickly and unmistakably is critical. In explaining the rules of the road, the message needs to be clear, exact and strong as it needs to be understood and applied by drivers of all ages and all language abilities. The language in these texts must be everyday and precise, leaving no ambiguity.

Top 10 misunderstood road rules in NSW
Download the brochure <a href="http://roadsafety.transport.nsw.gov.au/downloads/top-10-misunderstood-road-rules.pdf" target="_blank">Top 10 misunderstood road rules in NSW</a> and, using the ‘sticky note’ feature in the Comments section of Adobe Reader, annotate the Roundabouts content on page 4 to identify decisions that have been made to make this usually misunderstood road rule clear. You should consider choice of words, images and layout.
Compare the brochure with the animations on the <a href="http://roadsafety.transport.nsw.gov.au/campaigns/roadrules.html" target="_blank">Centre for Road Safety website</a> and consider:
<ul>
<li>how animation is used to clarify the message</li>
<li>the strengths and weaknesses of each medium – print and video – to communicate a clear message.</li>
</ul>
