Instructions 

The RECORDER's role is to record the driver's capacity to react appropriately to each of the instructions. 

DIRECTION 1

Put on seat belt
Check mirrors
Turn on car (and music system)

DIRECTION 2

Adjust music system volume

DIRECTION 3

Release brake
Clutch
Shift into 1st

DIRECTION 4

Check mirrors
Indicate right and pull out

DIRECTION 5

Clutch
Shift into 2nd

DIRECTION 6 

Clutch
Shift into 3rd

DIRECTION 7 

Clutch
Shift into 2nd
Brake

DIRECTION 8

Clutch
Shift into 1st
Brake to stop completely

DIRECTION 9 

Indicate left
Turn left
Change from 1st gear, through 2nd to 3rd gear

DIRECTION 10

Brake and clutch, shift to 1st gear
Stop at pedestrian crossing

DIRECTION 11 

Clutch
Accelerate into 2nd

DIRECTION 12

Clutch
Accelerate and shift to 3rd

DIRECTION 13

Put on windscreen wipers
Clutch
Shift to 2nd

DIRECTION 14

Brake and clutch
Shift to 1st
Stop completely at the lights

DIRECTION 15

Stop (observer measures reaction time)

Allow phone to ring

Clutch and shift down through 3rd gear to 2nd to slow down

Turn the music system off

Shift into 1st and come to a complete stop

Shift into 1st and accelerate

DIRECTION 24

Clutch
Shift into 2nd and accelerate

Slow down and pick up object OR
Pick up object while maintaining speed OR
Leave object on the ground

DIRECTION 26

Brake and clutch
Shift into 1st
Indicate right
Turn right

DIRECTION 27

Accelerate into 2nd

Accelerate into 3rd

Decelerate into 2nd
Check in mirrors for any pedestrians, especially young children

DIRECTION 32

Turn on car lights and slow down

DIRECTION 33

Clutch
Shift into 1st
Indicate with your left blinker
Brake and come to a complete stop
Put on the handbrake
Turn off the car
